Ravenloft II: The House on Gryphon Hill
Who – or what- is the mysterious entity that has been stalking the streets of Mordentshire?
This question has been whispered among the townsfolk on cold and lonely nights, behind locked door and around tavern tables. Mordentshire is no stranger to superstition and fear, but now something new haunts the village come nightfall, moving like the sea fog from place to place and driven by an intense, ever-burning hunger. Some believe it to be a vengeful spirit, others a hideous demon, and still more a sinister shapeshifter that can assume different guises to lure the unwary into its clutches. No two accounts are alike, with vague descriptions of fleeting shadows and something just out the corner of the eye lead a few to shake their heads and wonder if such a creature even exists.
Yet people are disappearing – some stumbling back into town fundamentally changed, and some never being heard from again – and bodies have begun to turn up, drained of blood. A few who remember the purges conducted by the High Faith of Osterton ages ago now secretly fear the return of a kind of monster thought long-dead: the vampire.
